Bizarre Repair Solutions!!!!

The MOST BIZARRE thing happened to me today. My trusty ipod (4G 20GB) decided to die on me yesterday. It froze during updating, it froze during playing, it froze WITHOUT playing and after numerous soft reboots (hold MENU button + SELECT button until system reboots for all you people who need to know) and diagnostic tests (hold SELECT + REWIND until the apple logo flips after soft reboot and you get a series of diagnostic tests) and software update/reboots, nothing could fix it, and all I got was a picture of a folder with an exclamation mark on starting (and an endless soft reboot cycle).

And then I tried something SO radical it sounded stupid when I read it. I opened up the ipod and shook the hard drive inside until this faint rattling sound stopped. I figured, with no warranty left, it didn't hurt to try something stupid on something which was semi-officially dead.

WHADDAYA KNOW! THAT FIXED IT!!

I reassembled it and hooked it up and voila! the 2000 songs I set to load into it loaded all the way! And they played perfectly!

So for all you people with the sad folder on your screens...you could try this if you dare ;)

p.s. the soft reboot and diagnostic steps above are only for the 4G mono ipods.
p.p.s. it sure as heck worked for me, but it might not for you. but what the heck right? it's dead anyway!

After eons of not writing ANYTHING of ANY worth here, for that matter ANYTHING AT ALL, here's a short one..

I've come to realize that great friends are hard to come by, and it never hurts to say just how much you care for them. So to all of you who read this who mean the world to me who know who you are, here's a very off-character (except in certain states of "hightened emotions ;)) remark, that I LOVE YOU GUYS and thank you for being there :)

The best things always happen by accident :)

Sometimes I sit in front of the computer wondering if I should be updating my journal. I know I should be, but I don't. That's mostly because there's nothing to write about and all you people who actually read my blog (other than myself) would be either terrible pissed off or terrible bored or terribly indifferent towards my drivel.

But I do update once in a while, even if my updates contain nothing more than a cloud of gas and maybe a few grains of sand..I do!

Respect my effort and hear out my dilemma on mosquitoes.

They suck. Literally.

Now if only they'd sting me in a uniform pattern. That way at least I'd look like I put on weight!

To all girls out there...today I had an important lesson in empathy.

I feel your pain.

Today I woke up with stomach pain and lower back pain at the same time. I think you know what that is, girls. IT BLOODY HURT!

All I can say to the guys is...

Be considerate to females..because if this is what happens at that time of the month, I'D BE CRANKY AS HELL TOO!

Well, Kickstart's over and it's back to normality ;) But anyway, I should be seething that I lost but surprisingly I'm not. Aidan and I've become good friends in the process of this show and I'm nothing but glad that he's clinched the top prize. He deserves it :) Eventhough I didn't win, I must say thank you to all of you who've supported me throughout this show. I might've been a rather difficult character to put up with, but to those who did, I can offer nothing but thanks to you! Thank you for voting, for the words of encouragement, and most of all, thank you for believing in me! For now, it's back to finishing school up..but in the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for a peculiar name starting with a "J" that might pop up from time to time ;) Thank you so much again!

Friends, family and everyone else!

As you know, I as well as a few others have asked numerous favours from you to vote for me to win on the Nescafe Kickstart Reality Show (by sending "KICKSTART JOSAIAH" to 33838 on your mobile phone...if you haven't...do it...! pleeeaseeee :))

Anyway...I've asked you to vote. But why should you vote for me?

For those of you who haven't followed the show, it's about 4 young people with 4 dream jobs. Thus far, we've each been given RM30,000 to pursue our dream jobs (mine being an artist...there's a parking system innovator, a Formula BMW racecar driver and a Taekwando Gym operator) and our efforts have been documented on the telly.

At this point, we've all gotten somewhere, and most of us have exhausted the 30k. I personally have used the money to set up my first solo exhibition. Eventhough it might've looked like it was an easy effort, let me assure you that it wasn't. I spent the most stressful 1 month of my life preparing the 18 pieces I needed for the exhibition and was on the verge of quitting the show. The sheer amount of pressure to complete it was immense and during that one month, I had very little sleep, skipped hoardes of meals and had to rack my mind dry for ideas on what to paint. However, in the end it all paid off and my exhibition was 40% sold.

Even then, I still need the money to go to art school. As much as I've proven myself in possession of the necessary abilities to be an artist, these abilities are still raw and need further development and exposure. Most of the other contestants have reached their goals..Aidan has got his parking system up and running and ready to be sold, William has his gym up and running and ready to accept students who'll finance its operations in the future whilst Hairie seems to not be able to make it.

Therefore, when deciding your votes, do think of who needs the money the most. I have proven myself worthy and right now I'm at the crossroads. I need this money not only as a prize, but in the spirit of the show, as a real Kickstart towards my career as a professional artist. In fact, I think that out of all the contestants, I am the only one with a realistic need for this prize. I've come this far, and I don't think that I can go any further without going to art school.

Therefore, please help me finish what I've started. Vote for me by sending:

So finally we have another periodic post...

Not much to say this time, and no, I'm not soliciting for votes...yet ;)

And today, the topic shall be.....drivel-I-continue-to-spew-from-my-mind!

This Kickstart experience has really been something. For anyone who intends to join next season (and I highly suspect there will be one), be prepared to chuck idealism out of the window. I came in wide-eyed with a simplistic plan and now look where I am! Things've changed in my head, things are not what they seem, you can trust everything to be a tad or even a heap more complicated than what you originally percieved them to be. All this in a couple of months! Talk about a rude shock to reality ;)

But anyway, the finale's coming up and all this is drawing to a close. I can't help but feel a tinge of melancholy knowing that I'll be returning to life as it was. It's a bittersweet feeling..a dashing of joy here, a smattering of sadness, maybe some relief. Life returns to clarity after a blurring flurry of activity. In the end, win or lose, I know that I've gotten quite a hunk of wisdom out of this experience. The wisdom that good friends can be made, that publicity can cause people to mask their true selves..display the good, hide the rotten and festering core, and the knowledge of what we're all likely to encounter as we step up and out. It's been interesting, it certainly has.

That aside, I've tasted what could be, and I know where to go now.

And with that...comes the soliciting.....!!

Incredibly, but not surprisingly, I show up again.

Incredibly because I never seem to get myself to sit down and actually write..especially in the last few weeks. Life's been one huge whirlwind, and let's just say it's not the most enjoyable thing to experience, fun as it might be.

Anyway, on to the not surprising part. I'm on tv again this Friday..same time (9.45 pm) on 8TV. So do watch me, and I promise I'll update more when the madness is over hehehe.

BTW, don't expect the same boring humdrum this Friday..from what I hear, it's supposed to be a HUGE change.

My post mortem on my horrible appearance on TV. Thank you first to all those who voted for me eh!

I LOOKED SO HORRID! WHAT'S WITH THE JAUNDICE-D APPEARANCE AND THE SPOTTY FACE!!! ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!

With that over with, let's just say it went alright.

Lots of things left out, ALOT more happened than what was shown, and I did ALOT more than sit around like a dumbass painting.

But in the end it turned out well. Now let's see who wins, now that anything and everything is out of my hands (and the hands of others) ;)

Moving around is a bitch. Just as you're beginning to feel settled down in one place, you have to up and go and rush over to the next.
